District
DALLAS ---- Sayles Werbner name partner Richard Sayles, together with Judge T. John
Ward of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall
Division, addressed a select group of attorneys on intellectual property litigation
during an educational session at the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel's
winter meeting. The organization is comprised of chief intellectual property

intellectual property and patent litigation.
Judge Ward and the Eastern District Federal courts are well known for significant

patent cases. The session, part of a three-day program, was entitled "What to
Expect When Litigating an IP Case in the Eastern District of Texas" and featured Mr.
Sayles, Judge Ward and David Weinburg, a California-based jury consultant. The
roundtable discussion panel was moderated by Dianne Elderkin, a Partner in the
Philadelphia office of the law firm, Woodcock Washburn.
"It was an honor to serve on the panel with Judge Ward, who is such a dynamic force
in the area of patent litigation that is affecting businesses around the world,"
says Mr. Sayles. "It was an engaging discussion and I believe the audience
received some valuable insights into the Eastern District's approach and the
expectations of litigants appearing in the Eastern District."
Mr. Sayles is a popular guest lecturer at local and national seminars and is
certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law and Personal
